The lighting shall be adapted to your physical working environment, for instance a computer workstation in an ordinary office or in open plan offices - large or small work surfaces. The lighting also has to meet your personal needs considering both task and age.
Overhead ceiling mounted lighting is seldom enough to meet your requirements.
If you work at a computer, look for luminaires which distribute the light in a way that is not creating glare or reflections in the computer screen, provide an even and flicker-free light distribution, are easy to adjust, stable and flexible
If you have a large work area, look for luminaires which will illuminate large work surfaces, provide an even and flicker-free light distribution, are easy to adjust, stable and flexible, distribute the light in a way that is not creating glare or reflections
If you work at a less spacious working area, look for luminaires which give smaller but still effective light output, are multi functional, are stable, distribute the light in a way that is not creating glare or reflections
Recommended light levels:
Working at a computer 500 - 750 lux
Normal desk work 500 - 1000 lux
Control work 750 - 1500 lux
Reading, drawing and vision demanding work 1000 - 2000 lux
General lighting usually provides approx. 300 -500 lux
